fred2This is just a question to ponder, NOT a statement about how I feel.
Sinking new and used prices. Many Cats sitting unsold at Dealer showrooms all over the country. DC rumors about killing production of the Cat. New model "Crossfire" said to be going into production soon. Possible replacement?
Will the Cat still be being built 2-3 years from now?
Y2K RodI believe 2003 to be the last year. However, I could see the economy killing the Kat sooner.

Dave MillsI think the time has come to let it die. I, for one, intend to keep mine for a long time.

ALLEY CATIf it was up to me, I'd say build 1,000 more orange, 1,000 more black, and 1,500 candy apple red and then let it die.

Oh yeah, one (1) dark green metallic for Ed's sister Edna!

KatAddictAs with all GREAT things that come to us in this world they must end! And TRULY the KAT is not only a beautiful automobile, it is truly a tribute to what America is all about. We can only feel so fortunate to have had the pleasure to own such an inspiring auto, they may kill the kat, but this kat will have 8 more lives to live, even if it is only in our minds !!!

ed monahanHere we go again. While in W.Va in a gas station in the middle of nowhere, a customer asked what kind of car is it? I then went in to pay, and the owner said, "what kind of car is that? While at the New River Gorge Bridge several people wanted to know if they were $ 70 K or $ 80 K? That is the main reason the new ones are not selling, no one knows they are available and most people think they are VERY Expensive. The current economy will not help that situation.
CJ, don't take this as bashing DC. I am not. They are not advertising them at all. I went to the dealer today to inquire about getting hood badges. He asked what year and I said 1999. He said they would order it and it would be $ 46. I asked how many colors? He said only one color is listed for 97, 98 and 99. I said, "No, I want it for a Prowler, there are no 98 Prowlers". He said that is what the computer shows. For 2000 they have both light and dark grey, fiery red, and several other colors that do not exist so I told him I would get back to him. It is very frustrating at times but I think that there are several reasons that the car is not selling like hot cakes. The future looks worse than the past as far as sales are concerned.
AC, my mother thanks you, my father thanks you, but most of all my evil sister Edna thanks you.

BeWareEd, I have to agree with you. Everything you said plus the dealers that price the car at 65K and say they won't take a penny less as was posted just very recently.

cmitch81Let the Cat become a classic! Oh yes, 1000 more PROWLER PURPLES would be great. My wife still wants one of those.

davebarbw@msn.comI have to agree with Ed. We went to two or three different dealers in the Detroit area. The lack of knowledge in the sales staff was amazing. Questions about the make-up and materials on the body panels could not be answered. At two dealers, the sales person could not open the trunk! Most important, they apparently did not want to be imbarrassed by asking others the answers. Certainly not conducive to sales either!
A friend at the Tech Center, took me to the Viper/Prowler group to show me the pool (corporate) cars and various colors. Met one of the staff Tech/Engineers and gave me all the answers I needed. Had it not been for him, I would still be driving my 70 Road Runner

Scot SternWhile I am now 115 years old, I am still young enough to apply simple business logic. If I am to believe the posted number of sales and the remaining inventory that is listed on this board, it makes no sense to continue the product as they have well over a year's supply of Prowlers in current inventory.

No business is successful with less than one turn per year. I would assume that with the condition of the economy and the present world situation someone, with a lot more intelligence than me, will come to the conclusion that it is not a good business decision to continue to build something that the public doesn't really want!

Just look at the numbers and the conclusion is obvious. I just wonder how long it will take them to determine the situation. Now, naturally, if something can stimulate the sales....then they could continue to build them.

My only suggestion would be an option of a "hood bunny." Unfortunately, I do not believe that they need my help in marketing and more importantly the demographics seem to indicate that most owners are married and, therefore, a "hood bunny" would be a unselected option!

I gotta go now as my Epson Salts have reached the perfect tempurature in my hot tub and my Hungry Man TV diner is ready to squash. God, those diners are sure "good eating."
